Letter to self
Dear Self,
Congratulations! You survived your first semester of college! I know it was stressful, but it’s over! Breathe a sigh of relief! : ) it was worth it, you’re grades are good! Maybe you should study more next semester... but let’s focus on the positive right now! You made some great friends, great memories, and great accomplishments this semester! Have you seen your ePortfolio? Yeah, that thing is nice! Be sure to read over it if you ever are bored and feel like procrastinating! It’s definitely more informative than Facebook. Reflect on it. Be sure to check out the My Why assignment so you will not forget why you serve/ volunteer. Also, reread the Ongoing Service assignment. I know you will be volunteering with the YMCA next semester at Margaret Beeks, and rereading that will show how things have changed, or stayed the same.
Get excited for the next semester of college! It’s going to be a busy one, not only with more classes and harder subjects, but more activities and more involvement! I want you to be involved with the Big Event whole-heartedly! You wanted this and it’s a chance to get other people excited about community service. Get involved with other clubs as well. Whether that be Emily’s Thirst Project, Salsa club, Make A Wish, whatever! In the midst of all the craziness, don’t forget about what’s most important though, God. Try to get involved more with Chi Alpha, or at least go more frequently to church on Sunday. Your eternal salvation is more important than sleep.
Remember to not get too stressed. Allow yourself some you time and to hang out with everyone. Make stronger relationships with everyone in the hall, across the hall, in Pritchard. Never stop meeting new people. Never turn down an adventure, like seriously, go milk cows! College is about getting good grades, but it’s also about creating memories and making lasting friendships. Take more pictures, laugh more, never let the party stop! You might want to keep a journal, so you can continue reflecting on everything.
Last, but not least, have a great time in the Dominican Republic! This is your opportunity to travel to a Spanish speaking country to do works of service. Pray about it beforehand, pray about it afterwards. It is going to be such a great experience, not only with the great group of people going, but to learn more about another culture. Take tons of pictures!
Best of luck to you future self! I’m here if you ever need to talk!
Love you!
